Abstract
1382812 Combined dyeing and dry cleaning apparatus J & P COATS Ltd 30 March 1972 [3 April 1971] 8622/71 Heading D1L Dyed and cleaned textile material is obtained by passing a mixture of a dye and a dye carrier through a batch of material, after dyeing removing the mixture from the material and separating the dye remaining in the mixture from the dye carrier and storing separately the dye and the dye carrier, passing cleaning fluid through the material to clean it of loose dye and then through the store of separated dye to absorb this dye, separating the cleaning fluid from the dye and storing the fluid and repeating the process using the stored dye carrier mixed with fresh dye and the stored cleaning fluid. As shown dye from container 5, is fed to a mixing chamber 2, and also dye carrier from tank 1. After mixing the dye and dye carrier are transferred by main pump 7 and appropriate valves, to kier 11 containing the material to be dyed. After the material has been dyed, the dye/dye carrier mixture is pumped out of the kier and through filter 12 from which the dye is removed and the carrier via receptacle 27 and path 44 returned to stock tank 1. Cleaning fluid from tank 6 is now pumped into kier 11 and when all the loose dye has been taken up from the material either drained into tank 23 directly or pumped through filter 12 to take up dye stored on the filter. The fluid contained in tank 23 is separated in still 19 by evaporation into the cleansing fluid which is returned via tank 2 and path 43 to the cleaning fluid stock tank 6 whilst the receptacle 32, receives the dyestuff and dye carrier which .via line 47 may be passed to the filter 12 for separation and recovery. The. cleaning fluid is preferably acetone, whilstperchloroethylene admixed with a silicone fluid such as a low molecular weight member of the dimethyl polysiloxane series is 'the preferred dye carrier.
