Abstract

1381883 Control circuit for successive cleaning of gas filter bags CARBORUNDUM CO 29 Dec 1971 [4 Jan 1971] 60376/71 Heading B1T [Also in Division G3] A plurality of rows of inward-flow gas filter bags 29 are cleaned successively by reverse flow jets of gas from reservoir 35 directed through respective valves 43, the valves being controlled and operated by a pneumatic circuit (Fig. 6, not shown) which causes one valve 43 to open whenever the pressure in the reservoir rises to a predetermined level, the resulting pressure fall in the reservoir causing the one valve to close again and also causing a sequencing device (187) to index one place so that the next valve 43 will be opened when the reservoir pressure rises again. The reservoir is continuously supplied with clean gas so that rows of bags 29 are cleaned one after another, device (187) automatically switching back to the first valve 43 when the last valve 43 has been opened to repeat the cycle. A pneumatic timing circuit (191) automatically overides the control circuit (189) which normally controls the cycle described above so as to switch device (187) to open the next valve 43 if the said cycle is interrupted by one valve 43 failing to open. An alarm circuit (193) monitors the controls for any malfunctioning and incorporates an overide switch (255) whereby the device (187) may be controlled manually. Bags 29 are of synthetic fibre or woven wool and have internal wire support frames. Figs. 3, 4, 5 (not shown) respectively illustrate a pneumatically actuated valve 43, device (131) which monitors the reservoir pressure and produces a positive or zero pneumatic signal in response to that pressure being at or below the predetermined level, and a pneumatic amplifier (73) which converts a small pneumatic signal from device (187) into a force sufficient to open valve portion (111) and thus allow gas to discharge from the lower half of valve 43 to allow it to open.
