Abstract

1381860 Tetrazole derivatives JOHN WYETH & BROTHER Ltd 2 June 1972 [3 June 1971] 18766/71 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein n is 0-2 and Het is either (1) an oxazole or thiazole residue containing as first substituent a carbocyclic or heterocyclic aryl, C 5-7 -ring- cycloalkyl or adamantyl group, and as optional second substituent one of these groups or an alkyl group, or (2) a furan, thiophene or pyrrole residue containing as substituents 1 or 2 carbocyclic and/or heterocyclic aryl groups. These compounds are prepared by tetrazole ring- formation. Intermediates prepared are the acid chloride, amide and nitrile of 2,5-di-(p-fluorophenyl)- furan-3-acetic acid; 2-(2-cyanoethyl)-4,5-diphenyloxazole; and 4-(p-chlorophenyl)-5-cyanomethyl-2-phenylthiazole. Therapeutic compositions having antiinflammatory activity comprise compounds of the above formula, which may be administered orally or parenterally.
