Abstract

1381551 Regulating switches SMIT NIJMEGEN ELECTROTECHNISCHE FABRIEKEN NV 20 April 1972 [20 April 1971] 18442/72 Heading H1N A rotary change-over selector switch for use in an on-load tap-changer to select coarse voltage steps under no-load conditions only comprises a plurality of fixed main contacts 6, 7, 8 arranged in the surface of a ring, and two mechanically rigidly interconnected, but mutu - ally insulated, switching contact arms 28 rotatable about the axis of the main contact ring for co-operating with the main contacts each arm 28 being electrically connected and rigidly attached to a respective conductive ring-segment 29 lying concentrically within the main contact ring and permanently engaged by a respective one of two fixed auxiliary contact arms 30; the arrangement being such that all the fixed and rotatable contacts lie substantially in the same plane transverse to the axis of rotation, and such that in each selected position of the switch the two rotatable contact arms 28 are in contact with one and the same main contact, but in transition one arm engages the next adjacent main contact before the other arm leaves the said one main contact For heavier currents each of the arms 28 and 30 may consist of two parallel arms (28<SP>1</SP>, 28<SP>11</SP>, 30<SP>1</SP> and 20<SP>11</SP>, Fig. 3, not shown), respectively.
