Abstract

1381449 Vehicle steering mechanism DRING hcF PORSCHE AG 24 Sept 1973 [22 Sept 1972] 44663/73 Heading B7H The casing 1 of a rack and pinion steering gear is mounted in a motor vehicle with variably resilient axial location by one axially free mounting (not shown) and one mounting 4 comprising two resilient bearings 5, 6 which are positioned on opposite sides of a flange 10 on the casing 1 and are variably compressed against a fixed plate 11 by adjusting means 14 including an electric motor controlled by signals obtained from sensors which detect vehicular operating parameters such as speed, steering angle, transverse acceleration and loading. Each resilient bearing 5, 6 comprises a rubber ring 7 between two discs 8, 9.
