Abstract

1380173 Washing machines INDUSTRIE A ZANUSSI SpA 17 March 1972 [26 March 1971] 12655/72 Heading D1A A programmer arrangement provides from a single basic programme three alternative programmes each including a prewash cycle followed by a main wash cycle but at different temperatures depending upon at which stage of the basic programme the selected programme begins. A full 20 stage programme provides a prewash at 40‹C followed by a main wash at 90‹C, an intermediate programme starting at stage 7 provides a prewash at 40‹C again but a main wash at 60‹C and a short programme beginning at stage 13 provides a cold prewash and a main wash at 40‹C. The washing programme is followed by at least one rinsing stage. As shown in Fig. 1 the arrangement includes switch contacts 1 to 10 controlled by respective cams of a programmer, a water-level sensitive pressurestat 20 with an 'empty' terminal V connected to an inlet valve 13 and a 'full' terminal P selectively connectible with a reversible drum drive motor 12, a discharge pump 16, the programmer motor 17 and through three thermostats 21, 22 and 23 in parallel and set at 90‹C, 60‹C and 40‹C respectively, with a heater 14 and a relay 15. Energisation of the relay 15 through a thermostat stops the programmer motor 17 until the desired temperature is reached. In the full programme the 90‹C thermostat 21 effectively by-passes the thermostats 22 and 23 and in the second programme the thermostat 22 by-passes the thermostat 23 thus providing three different main wash temperatures.
