Abstract

1379912 Cutting inserts WICKMAN WIMET Ltd 21 June 1972 [22 June 1971] 29114/71 Heading B3B A cutting insert 10 for a cutting tool comprises a polygonal member whose sides 13 are perpendicular to a flat base surface 12, the top surface 14 of the insert being symmetrically concave of part spherical form and at the junction of the sides 13 with the top surface 14 there is provided a continuous ridge 15 and concave recess. The ridge may be provided with a flat top and alternative configurations of ridge are described with respect to Figs. 4, 5 and 6. The configuration is said to have good chip breaking qualities.
