Abstract

1379808 Threshing in combine harvesters DEERE & CO 13 Dec 1972 [13 Dec 1971] 57548/72 Heading A1F The outlet end of a threshing concave 1 has a pivot pin received in a slot 9 in a suspension rod 7 and pivotally supporting a locating rod 10 guided at its ends in slots 11 and 12 and acted on by a tension spring 15, so that the gap at the outlet end of the concave 1 may increase under overload conditions by movement of the pivot pin from the left-hand end (Fig. 1) of the slot 9 to the right hand end. The gap between the concave 1 and the drum 2 may be adjusted from the driver's position (or directly) by rotation of a shaft 3 carrying unequal levers 4 and 5 pivoted to suspension rods 6 and 7 pivoted to the concave 1. The pivot 8 is guided in a slot (not shown) in the side wall of the harvester. The spring force may be adjusted by selecting a different hole 14 or by a screw 17. Deflection of the concave I by overload is used to control the speed of travel of the harvester, or to control the rate at which crop is fed to the drum 2 by conveyor 18, or to trigger a warning device. The elements are provided at both sides of the concave 1.
