Abstract

1379609 Monitoring light source intensity variations DR-ING RUDOLF HELL GmbH 29 Dec 1971 [28 Dec 1970] 60562/71 Heading G1A [Also in Divisions G3 and H4] In an arrangement for stabilizing the intensity of a light beam from a source 1 having a fluctuating light intensity output, a transducer 16 derives a signal representing the intensity fluctuations, the light beam is passed through a polarizer 9 and polarization analyser 18 and the signal from transducer 16 either rotates the plane of polarization of the light beam via Pockel effect device 10 or, if device 10 is omitted, rotates the polarization analyzer (21), Fig. 2 (not shown). The light beam scans a picture original 5, passes through a colour separation filter 8, and is photo-electrically detected at 19. The polarizer 9, Pockel effect device 10 and polarization analyzer 18 may be placed between the beam splitter 14 and picture original 5 Fig. 3 (not shown), or between the source 1 and beam splitter 14 Fig.4 (not shown). Source 1 may be a xenon lamp or laser.
