Abstract

1379599 Accumulators GREER HYDRAULICS Inc 16 Dec 1971 [16 Dec 1970] 58541/71 Heading F1D An hydraulic accumulator comprises an elongate container 11, with an axial orifice 18 at one end 12, the other end 32 being open and receiving a cylindrical cap 21. An annular steel supporting member 41 is held between mouth 32 and cap 21, the bottom 42 of member 41 extending inwardly and being bonded to the mouth 39 of a bladder 35. The top edge 46 of member 41 extends into a groove defined between bevelled surfaces 31, 33 of cap 21 and mouth 32 respectively and is spaced from both surfaces 31,33. A weld 55 then joins the surfaces 31,31 and the top portion 46 together to form a fluid-tight seal. This arrangement has the advantage that the heat of weld 55 is carried away by the relatively large masses of cap 21 and container 11 and thus does not affect the bond between the bladder mouth 39 and support member portion 42.
