Abstract

1379262 Tape cable connectors; electric fuses CANNON ELECTRIC (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd 26 Oct 1972 [1 Nov 1971] 50633/71 Headings H2E and H2G A tape cable connector, Fig. 1, comprises a plastic base 1 with platforms 2 urged upwards by metallic springs 4 and carrying two flat strip cables 6, 7 with their outer edges in slots in pillars 5 and their track ends aligned, and a drop in board 8 which bears conductive tracks dimensioned to act as fuses which bridge the gaps between ends of cables 6, 7 when it is fitted to base 1 so that its latches 10 engage therewith. The tracks on 8 may be on both sides of 8, so that it may be inverted if the fuses blow. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), on the base the cables are bent over the side walls and the upper moulding which has curved ends is inserted between the cable ends which are vertical and parallel. Insertion provides contact pressure. Location is by holes and studs.
