Abstract
1378980 Secondary alcohol alkoxylation products HENKEL & CIE GmbH 14 Dec 1972 [2 Feb 1972] 57807/72 Heading C3R [Also in Division D1] Adducts of 5 to 20 mol of ethylene oxide, 1 to 10 mol of propylene oxide and 1 mol of a secondary aliphatic alcohol having a linear alkyl chain of 10 to 20 carbon atoms are prepared by conventional methods, the ethylene oxide first being reacted with the secondary alcohol followed by further reacting with the propylene oxide. The adducts have minimum foaming and high wetting and washing action when used in aqueous textile treatment baths. In examples 1 mol of C 11 to C 15 secondary aliphatic alcohol is condensed with (1) 7EO+3PO, (2) 9EO+ 3PO, (3) 7EO + 2PO.
