Abstract

1378196 Spot welding KAWASAKI JUKOGYO KK and DENGENSHA MFG CO Ltd 5 June 1972 [4 June 1971] 26213/72 Heading B3R A spot welding device known as a "robot" comprises a body 3 at least one arm 2 extending therefrom and a spot welding gun 1 connected to the or each arm by means of articulated joints 7 and 8. Welding current is supplied to pivoted electrodes 23, 24 from power unit 5 by cable 6 stationary (relative to arm 2), plates 9, 10 insulated from each other which are in electrical contact with rotatable plates 11, 12 respectively also insulated from each other which latter move with the gun relatively to the arm. Second joint 8 may have a pivotal axis at right angles to that of joint 7 and a similar arrangement of stationary and rotatable plates 15-18 is provided which interconnects electrode arms 21, 22 with plates 11, 12 by means of conductors 13, 14, 19, 20. A pneumatic cylinder 25 can be mounted on the gun 1 to actuate pivoted arms 21, 22.
