Abstract
1378100 Winding stator coils R W PETERS 28 March 1973 [30 March 1972] 14827/73 Heading B3A A stator core winding machine has a reciproeating and oscillating winding head including a needle mounted for movement transverse to the direction of reciprocation of the head. In Fig. 4, the stator core 18 is in a winding station clamped between tooling rings 20, 22 having pivoted fingers 24, 26 on which coils 30 are formed. The core has slots 28 at 10 degree intervals, and the head has three needles 36 (one shown) spaced 40 degrees apart. The rings and stator are rotatable to present successive slots for winding. Each needle is located in a slot 38 in the head, and has a pin 44 located in an arcuate groove 52 in a cam-plate 46 vertically movable in the head. The head is attached to a hollow spindle 54, and the three cam-plates to an inner spindle 56. Three drive motions are shown in Fig. 3, all powered by a motor 64. A two-part eccentric pin 80, 86, Fig. 2, is attached by bolt 82 to a drive plate 66 of motor 64, and is connected by links 68, 70 to the spindles 54, 56, so that the latter has a lesser stroke, and the cam-plates 52 reciprocate relative to the winding head to move the needles radially outwards towards the ends of the winding head stroke and thus engage the wires 33 over hooks 24, 26. The head is oscillated at the ends of the winding head stroke by a gear 102 surrounding a splined portion of spindle 54 and driven by rack 104 on plate 112 reciprocated by rollers 118 on cam 106 rotated by belt and pulley drive by motor 64.
