Abstract
1377964 Matrix displays RCA CORPORATION 1 Dec 1971 [7 Dec 1970] 55714/71 Heading G5C [Also in Division H1] A device for selectively displaying numerals comprises an envelope enclosing an insulating substrate 70, the substrate having bores bearing conductive pins 28, 30, 30<SP>1</SP> supporting on one side incandescent filaments 33 and contacting at the other end conductive material 36 deposited in depressions 76, 76<SP>1</SP> in the substrate face, the depressions leading to a row of further bores 72, 72<SP>1</SP> adjacent one edge of the substrate, the further bores being in contact with terminal leads 22 extending out of the envelope. The pins are arranged in two groups, one of which is contacted by a single depression 76<SP>1</SP> around the edge of the substrate face and leading to a bore 72<SP>1</SP>, the pins of the other group being individually connected to bores 72 by depressions 76. The terminal leads are connected to the depressions either by having bent ends passing through the bores (as shown) or by being welded to pins passing through the bores.
