Abstract

1377869 Cleaning slivers WILHELM STAHLECKER GmbH 21 Nov 1972 [25 Nov 1971] 53724/72 Heading B2H [Also in Division D1] Sliver, e.g. for open-end spinning is cleared by being opened, subjected to cleaning, then recombined into sliver. The cleaning unit comprises a high-speed opening roller 65b which feeds opened fibres to a rotary collecting cylinder 65c whose surface is perforated and subjected to suction. Openings 69 are provided around the roller 65b to receive impurities detached from the fibres under the effect of centrifugal force imparted by the rotating roller and convey them to one or more chambers 69a. A further opening 69b may be provided in the channel 67a. A silver delivery funnel 68 may be arranged to rotate. The cleaning unit may be arranged with a carding engine or drawing frame in a variety of positions, or a number of them may be arranged in a cleaning machine. The cleaner may also be arranged in a sliver coiler pedestal. These are illustrated in Figs. 1 to 4 and 7 and 8.
