1377864 Steam generators WAAGNERBIRO AG 13 Oct 1972 [13 Oct 1971] 47468/72 Heading F4A A water tube steam generator, comprised at least in part by flat tube walls 10, 11, surrounding a combustion chamber, includes tie beams 1, 2 parallel and flexibly connected directly or indirectly to the respective walls by means including strap links 20a, the ends of the tie beams 1, 2 being slidably interconnected and held at a constant angle with respect to each other across the corners 14 of the tube walls to permit thermal expansion of the steam generator without restraint. In the embodiment of Fig. 3, the ends of the tie beams are slidably received in rigid slideways 3, 4 in a coupling member 21. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the slideways are provided in the form of a tongue and groove at the respective ends of each tie beam. In further alternative embodiments the tie beams extend beyond each associated corner 14 and the crossed ends are coupled by links (57, Figs. 2, 5 and 6, not shown) to provide the desired linear movement of the tie beams. The ends of the tie beams may be angled, and provided with sliding surfaces (15), Fig. 7, not shown), or pins (23) and slots (24), Fig. 11 (not shown).
