Abstract
1377538 2 - Halo - 5 - alkyl - 4 - (N - pyrrolidinyl) benzene diazonium salts GAF CORP 6 Sept 1972 [24 Sept 1971] 41300/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] Diazonium salts of formula where Py represents an N-pyrrolidinyl radical, R is C 1 to C 4 alkyl, Y is halogen and X is a stable diazonium salt-forming anion, e.g. chlorozincate are prepared by reacting pyrrolidine at elevated temperature with an equimolecular amount of a 2,4-dihalo-5-alkyl-nitrobenzene to form a 2-halo-5-alkyl-4-pyrrolidinyl nitrobenzene, reducing the nitro group to an amino group, diazotizing the amino group with nitrous acid, and adding the salt yielding a stable diazonium salt-forming anion (e.g. ZnCl 2 ).
