Abstract

1377505 Azo dyes from 2,6-diaminopyridine coupling components BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 17 Dec 1971 [19 Dec 1970 15 Nov 1971] 58653/71 Heading C4P Novel dyestuffs of the formula in which D is the radical of a diazo component the linking bond of which is attached to a condensed or uncondensed benzene, thiophene, isothiazole, thiazole, thiadiazole, triazole or pyrazole ring; X is -CN or -CONH 2 ; NR<SP>2</SP>R<SP>3</SP> may independently have any of the values of NRR<SP>1</SP>; and either NRR<SP>1</SP> is pyrrolidino, piperidino, morpholino, the S-dioxide of thiomorpholino, piperazino or N<SP>1</SP>-methylpiperazino or R<SP>1</SP> is H or C 1-8 alkyl optionally substituted by OH, NH 2 or C 1-8 alkoxy or mono- or di-alkylamino and R is R<SP>1</SP>, C 1-8 alkyl which may also optionally be substituted by phenyl, phenoxy, optionally esterified carboxy or C 1-10 acyloxy, any of the open chains in the foregoing R groups optionally being interrupted by oxygen, or R is ethyl or propyl substituted in the omega position by an N-atom which is part of a 2-pyrrolidone or morpholine-S-oxide ring, or R is allyl, cyclohexyl optionally substituted by hydroxy or acyloxy, or phenyl optionally substituted by Cl, CN, CH 3 , OCH 3 , CH 3 NHCO, CH 3 OC 2 H 4 NHCO, C 2 H 5 , OC 2 H 5 , 2-hydroxyethyl, 2-hydroxyethoxy or 2-acyloxyethoxy are prepared by coupling of diazotized amines DNH 2 with appropriately substituted 3-cyano or carbamoyl-4-methylpyridines. Products wherein X is CN may be hydrolysed to the corresponding amides, and products containing free OH or CO 2 H groups may be acylated or esterified. The new dyes are yellow to green-blue and are suitable for dyeing acrylonitrile polymer textile material and, particularly, textile material of synthetic polyamides, cellulose esters and synthetic linear polyesters. The coupling components and their' 6-chloroprecursors are described and claimed in Specification 1,377,506.
