Abstract
1376381 Flame-retardant organic phosphonates STAUFFER CHEMICAL CO 4 May 1972 [20 May 1971 7 April 1972] 20747/72 Heading C2P [Also in Division C3] Novel compounds of Formula I where X is optionally substituted phenyl or Y-CH 2 - where Y is chlorine or bromine, may be prepared (a) by reacting 2,3-dibromopropanol with a halomethyl- or phenylphosphonic dichloride or (b) by reacting allyl alcohol with a halomethyl or phenylphosphonic dichloride to form a diallyl halomethyl- or phenylphosphonate, which may be isolated, and reacting this product with bromine. The compounds of Formula I may be used as flameretardants for polymeric materials.
