137,541. Isola Ges. f³r Warme und Kalte-Isolierung. Oct. 13, 1915, [Convention date]. Forming hollow-walled vessels; annealing, tempering, and toughening. - Vacuum flasks of a capacity exceeding five litres, for storing liquefied air &c., are made with double walls of glass having a thickness of more than two millimetres. The neck of the inner and outer vessels are fused together, and are immediately inserted into a casing of metal or asbestos, which has been brought to a high temperature, e.g. 400-500‹ C. The vessel with its casing is then placed in a hot oven and further heated to above 700-800‹ C., after which the oven is allowed to cool slowly and the vessel removed for the remaining treatment in the usual manner.
