1375314 4-Chloroformylphthalic anhydride DYNAMIT NOBEL AG 22 Feb 1972 [19 March 1971] 8198/72 Heading C2C 4-Chloroformylphthalic-anhydride is made by reacting trimellitic acid with a compound having one or more -CCl 3 groups directly attached to an aromatic nucleus, optionally in the presence of an inert solvent, at 80-200‹ C. in the presence of a Lewis acid. Aromatic acid chlorides are obtained as byproducts in the above reaction.
