Abstract

1375302 Stabilized polyesters ALLIED CHEMICAL CORP 23 June 1972 [21 Dec 1971] 29491/72 Heading C3R A composition comprises (a) a polyester derived from an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and a diol having from 2-10 carbon atoms, and (b) dichloro-(di-2-pyridylamine)copper (II) or bis-(di-2-pyridylamine)copper (II) chloride. Preferably the amount of the copper compound is sufficient to provide from 0À005 to 0À050 weight per cent of copper based on the weight of the polyester. The copper compound may be added to the polyester during its manufacture or added to the molten polyester after polycondensation. Polyethylene terephthalate is used in the examples. The composition may be made into films, fibres or filaments.
