1375089 Apparatus for frying F WENGER 14 Nov 1972 [15 Nov 1971] 52474/72 Heading A4D A deep-fat fryer comprises a pan which is of elongate generally rectangular shape in any horizontal cross-section over substantially the whole of its depth and which has one of its narrower side walls stepped to define a shelf 6 extending over approximately one third of the length of the pan, a heating element 9 disposed at a distance below the free edge of the shelf approximately equal to the distance of the free edge of the shelf from the top of the pan, and a removable cooking basket 7 having a rectangular shape in any horizontal cross-section below the free edge of the shelf which substantially conforms to the horizontal cross-sectional shape of the pan at the same level. As shown, the pan comprises upper, intermediate, and lower pan portions 5, 3 and 4. In use, the basket may be grasped by a handle 8 and manually shaken while resting the basket on a transverse bar 11. A lever 13 actuates an aperture 14 for emptying the pan. A receptacle 15 is provided beneath the pan. The heating element 9 is connected to a connection box 10, and a control panel 16 having a thermo - stat, automatic time switch and indicator lights is provided.
