Abstract

1375032 Polyurethane foams LAPORTE INDUSTRIES Ltd 17 May 1972 [27 May 1971] 17609/71 Heading C3R Polyurethane foams are prepared by reacting an isocyanate-terminated prepolymer with a reactant mixture comprising an organic polymeric polyol, a polyfunctional cross-linking agent and blowing agent, an organo-tin catalyst being incorporated in the prepolymer and a tertiary amine catalyst in the reactant mixture. The prepolymer is suitably prepared by reacting diphenylmethane-4,4<SP>1</SP>-diisocyanate with a polyether or polyester. In the reactant mixture the organic polyol may or may not be the same polyol used in the formation of the prepolymer. The cross-linking agent is suitably butane-1,4- diol or ethylene glycol and water is a convenient blowing agent. Dibutyl tin dilaurate and triethylene diamine are the preferred catalysts.
