Abstract
1374854 Continuous casting FILIAL TSENTRALNOGO NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKOGO INSTITUTA CHERNOI METALLURGII IMENI I P BARDINA 15 Feb 1972 [15 Feb 1971] 6916/72 Heading B3F [Also in Division B8] A east strand 6 is withdrawn from a mould by two endless chains of links 9 each bearing a profiled insert piece 10, opposed pieces (as the links pass over (driven) rollers 2, 3, 2a, 3a) defining a shaped nip, gripping the strand 6 over a large part, e.g. 80-90%, of the surface of the engaged length; the rollers 2, 3 are biased, as by springs 14, towards the opposed rollers 2a, 3a and the rollers, like freely rotating cylinders 4 over which the chains also pass, are mounted on a stand 1. The pieces 10 may be shaped to contact a large portion of the periphery of an angle-sectioned strand 6, Fig. 7, or a round-, oval-, I- or channel-sectioned strand.
