1374700 Detecting faults in overhead power lines BOWDEN BROS Ltd and SOUTH WESTERN ELECTRICITY BOARD 1 March 1973 [1 March 1972] 9480/72 Heading G1U In a method of detecting a fault in an overhead electricity supply line, the electromagnetic flux caused by current in the line is monitored at, or near, ground level so that abrupt changes resulting from faults can be detected. This method obviates the use of equipment near the supply line and the attendant services of a linesman.
