Abstract

1373746 Unloading pneumatic despatch containers GEORGIA TECH RESEARCH INSTITUTE 19 Jan 1973 2771/73 Heading B8A In a pneumatic despatch container system, open-topped containers are unloaded in a section which has an opening in the top with which the opening in a container positioned in the section is substantially coextensive. The section is mounted between two fixed sections of the pneumatic tubing to be rotatable through 360 degrees in order to invert the unloading section and the container therein to unload the container and then right the section and container for reloading downstream. In the Fig., a container is positioned in section 28 with the top openings of container and section coextensive by a buffer pivoted at 80. Section 28 is mounted for rotation between fixed sections 32 and 34 by means of wheels 56 engaging cylindrical support surfaces 40 and 42 of section 28. The section is rotated through 180 degrees to unload the container by motor 64 which drives chain 70.
