Abstract

1373739 Alarm systems HOCHIKI CORP 29 Dec 1972 [29 Dec 1971] 60150/72 Headings G4N and G4H A system for sensing a predetermined condition comprising an element 32 responsive to the condition to actuate a relay 4 is characterized in that it further comprises a control device 24 connected into the circuit by a switch 26a when the condition is sensed, and means K1 for actuating the device 24. As described, the system is used as a fire alarm, a number of units 20 being coupled to a common unit 10. Presence of a fire near senser 32 will fire SCR 1 to short lines l 1 , l 2 thus energizing alarm relay 4 which locks in over contacts 4a. Capacitor C4 discharges through "set" coil Rp of a latching relay to close contacts 26a, thus connecting relay coil 24 across lines l 1 , l 2 . When it is required to actuate relay 24, switch K1 is closed to energize an oscillator 6 which pulses relay 8. Contacts 8a, 8b, 8c now apply a pulse signal to lines l 1 , l 2 which operates relay 24, the relay being made slow-to-release so that it does not drop out between pulses. When it is required to release relay 24 switch K3 is closed to apply a long pulse to lines l 1 , l 2 . This pulse will fire a SCR2 and energize the "reset" coil R s of the latching relay, thus opening contacts 26a. Relay 24 may energize a lamp, or may control a smoke extractor or fire doors.
