Abstract

137,358. Shire, L. G. W., and Birming- ham & Midland Motor Omnibus Co. Dec. 31, 1918. Omnibuses.-In an omnibus or other passenger vehicle having the normal entrance and exit disposed at the forward end of the vehicle on the near side and leading to a central gangway d between the seats c<2> by a platform space e and a passage d<1> between the seats c, c<1>, an emergency exit door k is provided at the rear of the vehicle. Steps f give access to the platform. The driver's seat is placed at g and the petrol tank at h. The driver's and platform spaces form a compartment substantially enclosed, except for the entranceway, there being a weather-screen and a partlyclosed side i. Fares may be taken by the driver or by a conductor stationed on the platform. A removable seat c<3> normally extends across the emergency exit door k, and a seat-back, which may be hooked to the door or may have depending arms adapted to drop into recesses in the two adjacent fixed seats, is arranged to conceal the handle of the bolts for the door.
