Abstract
1373510 Inhibition of corrosion FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 23 Dec 1971 [28 Dec 1970] 60066/71 Heading C7E [Also in Division E1] A process for the treatment of an oil or gas well comprises injecting into the well a mixture comprising an aqueous acid and a compound of the general formula:- in which R 1 represents a linear or branched alkyl radical having up to 18 carbon atoms and being attached to the 2, 4 or 6 position of the benzene nucleus; R 2 represents a hydrogen atom, a linear or branched alkyl radical having up to 9 carbon atoms, or a moiety of the formula:- R 3 represents a linear or branched alkyl radical having up to 4 carbon atoms or a #-hydroxyethyl group; and A- represents one of the anions Cl-, Br, I-, CH 3 OSO 3 - and ¢ SO 4 <SP>2-</SP>. The compounds of the invention act as acid inhibitors and are therefore suitable for use as inhibitors in the acid treatment of oil and gas wells. The concentration of the sulphonium salts in the mixture should normally be at least 0À01 wt per cent, calculated on the entire acid solution and generally concentrations greater than 2À0 wt per cent are not used. An alkynol may be added to aid the acid inhibition; The acid may be HCl.
