Abstract

1373483 Thiadiazole derivatives VELSICOL CHEMICAL CORP 31 May 1973 26013/73 Heading C2C Novel thiadiazole ureas of the Formula I wherein R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are C 1-3 alkyl groups and X is an isopropyl, t.-butyl or trifluoromethyl group, and water-soluble salts thereof, are prepared by reacting isocyanate dimers of the Formula II with dialkyl acetals of the formula R<SP>1</SP>OCH(OR<SP>2</SP>)-CH 2 -NH-CH 3 . The isocyanate dimers of the Formula II above may be prepared by reacting phosgene with appropriate aminothiadiazoles. Herbicidal compositions comprise as active ingredients the above thiadiazole ureas of Formula I.
