Abstract

1373348 Milling turbine nozzles ROTAX Ltd 10 Jan 1972 [9 Jan 1971] 1139/71 Heading B3K A method of milling each nozzle of a nozzle ring 10 for a turbine, comprises passing a milling cutter 12 over the periphery of the nozzle blank along two helical paths A, B the first of which produces machining of a wall 13 of the entrance portion of the nozzle, and of the wall 14 of the exit portion, and second of which produces machining of the opposite walls 15, 16, of the entrance and exit portions. The wedge of material 17 is then removed. The throat of the nozzle may be widened slightly so that it is of uniform cross-section for a short length.
