Jackets and covers.-A band of rubber, cork, felt, &c., fitted between the air tube 9 and the outer cover 8, is formed with tapered side portions 5 and normally re-entrant tread portion 6 which is stated to yield and assume the position shown in dotted lines when the outer cover is punctured, so as to prevent the puncturing instrument from reaching the inner tube.
