Abstract
1372732 Electro-chemical analysis GES FUER KERNFORSCHUNG mbH 15 Dec 1971 [15 Dec 1970] 58179/71 Heading G1N The solid electrolyte probe of Specification 1259208 is modified by having a metal tube bonded to the electrolyte to make a sealing fit in the housing, instead of taper-grinding the glass plug at the rear of the electrolyte. As shown a tubular metal "holder" 28 is sealed to the electrolyte cup 3 and the glass plug 13 by an intermediate glass layer 29. A screwed ring 30 on the lower end of the tube 28 holds it in the insulating housing 19. The glass plug 13 extends back through a cylindrical bore in the housing and may be surrounded by a mesh screen to shield the lead. Tube 25 through the housing carries a temperature sensor and a platinum lead 27 to the external electrode. It is stated that the use of zirconium dioxide with yttrium oxide as the solid electrolyte permits operation down to 200‹C.
