Abstract

1372697 Waveguide dissipative loads ROTAX Ltd 12 Nov 1971 [21 Nov 1970] 55495/70 Heading H1W A termination for a waveguide comprises a dielectric pipe for a dissipative liquid. The pipe is of sinuous form having sections which cross and re-cross the waveguide at an angle to the axis. Thus, a first section may enter the (rectangular) waveguide at a point adjacent the upper edge of one of the side-walls removed from the end of the waveguide by one quarterwavelength (#/4), and leave at a point adjacent the lower edge of the opposite side-wall removed from the end by #/2. The pipe then follows a semi-circular bend, re-enters the waveguide at a point removed from the end by 3#/4, traverses the waveguide in a direction parallel to the first traverse, and so on for any number of traverses.
