Abstract

1372022 Cleaning vehicle headlamp glasses GENERAL MOTORS CORP 28 June 1973 [11 July 1972] 30808/73 Heading A4F [Also in Division F2] In a motor vehicle headlamp washer system liquid is pumped from a reservoir to discharge nozzles via a pressure responsive valve in which a valve element 15, shown in its open position in Fig. 3, is retained in its closed position in sealing contact with a valve seat 13 by magnetic attraction until the pressure of pumped liquid reaches a predetermined value. The rubber ring 13 constituting the valve seat is surrounded by an annular permanent magnet 14 which attracts the valve element 15 which consists of an iron plate having a circular row of openings 16 therein for the passage of liquid when the valve is open. The total area of the openings 16 is the same as the cross sectional area of the valve inlet or outlet 11 or 12.
