Abstract

1371986 Engine stop gear H A SAPP and W A STAINSBY 24 Jan 1973 [3 Feb 1972] 5067/72 Heading F1K An automatic fuel feed cut-off for an internal combustion engine, to protect it from over-heating, comprises a spring-loaded liquid control valve 5 which is held in operative position against the effort of its spring-loading 6 by a plug 13 of material which will melt or disintegrate when subjected to a temperature above a predetermined value. The spring-loaded valve may directly control the fuel-flow which will normally pass therethrough and be shut-off on melting or disintegration of the plug or indirectly control the fuel-flow by passing oil pressure to a diaphragm associated with a valve in the fuel feed line. The spring-loaded valve may be used in conjunction with a lubrication pressure operated device described in Specification 1136761.
