Abstract

1371728 Lubricating moulds for glass manufacture DEUTSCHE ACHESON GmbH 16 Aug 1972 [18 Aug 1971] 38225/72 Heading C1M In glass forming apparatus comprising supply means 2 for supplying molten glass to a mould 10 and spray means 18 for spraying lubricant and/or a parting agent into the mould 10, the outlet ends 14, 20 of the supply means 12 and spray means 18 are in fixed positions adjacent one another and spaced from the mould 10. The aperture 38 of the split mould 10 receives the gob 34 of glass from supply channel 12 through a dropping ring 32 and a closure head 36 through which air is passed to compress the gob 34. The ring 32 is then removed and closure head 36 lowered so that aperture 38 is then closed. The gob 34 is then blown through lower part 30 of mould 10 to form the parison. The parison is removed and inverted by a gripper (44) on an arm (46) and the mould then closed for spraying as in Fig. 3. A vacuum pipe 50 connected to the lower part 30 assists coating of the whole of the mould cavity 38. The spray head 18 is supplied, through valves, with lubricant and/or parting agent for supply line 22 and compressed air through line 24. A multiple installation is also disclosed.
