1371694 Oxidation of hydrogen sulphide BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 11 Feb 1972 [12 Feb 1971] 6423/72 Addition to 1311740 Heading C1A Hydrogen sulphide is oxidized with oxygen or sulphur dioxide or with a gas containing one or both of these, in the presence of, as a solvent, a triamide of orthophosphoric acid of general formula in which R is H or an alkyl group of 1-3 carbon atoms, with, as a diluent, a polar aprotic solvent having a dielectric constant of at least 20 (at 25‹C.) and a boiling point of at least 150‹C. Exemplified diluents are benzonitrile, tetramethylene sulphone, propylene carbonate and ethylene carbonate.
