Abstract
1371568 Inflatable formwork for concrete pipes SEMPERIT AG 4 May 1972 [5 May 1971 13 Jan 1972] 20727/72 Heading E1S An inflatable formwork for the interior of concrete pipes &c comprises a hollow member of elastic material having a skin 1 and internal walls attached thereto which define at least three cavities extending substantially the full length of the member, valves 9, 10 being provided in the end or ends of the member for inflation of the respective cavities by filling with a gaseous or liquid medium, and selected cavities communicating through openings so that they may be filled through a common valve. The formwork is preferably of ovoid cross-section and contains two circular tubes 6, 8 of different diameter within the skin 1, which tubes are joined at a common tangent or chord, and communicate through openings 13. Either complete tubes may be enveloped by and attached to the skin, or wall parts may be bonded to the inside of the skin to form the tubes. The communicating tubes 6, 8 are inflated through the common valve 9, and the remaining spaces 7 through a further valve or valves 10 to a lower pressure than the tubes 6, 8, to achieve the required shape for the skin 1. The formwork may instead contain three circular tubes. In use, the formwork may sit in a U-section base plate to locate it when pouring concrete around it.
