Abstract
1371555 Web decatizing apparatus A MONFORTS 15 Aug 1972 [28 Sept 1971] 38087/72 Heading D1L In a method for decatizing a continuous web of textile material the web is passed around a perforated decatizing cylinder 5 between the cylinder and an endless air-impermeable belt 6, the steam required for the decatizing process being generated by moistening either the fabric-facing side of the belt 6 by means of spray 9 from spray assembly 8 or the web itself (dotted lines 1a), heating the decatizing cylinder to the required temperature and pressing the belt and web against the cylinder at the required pressure by means of suction applied to the perforations of the cylinder from the inside thereof. The decatizing cylinder comprises a casing 20 formed with end walls 22 and 23 and rows of perforations 28 surrounded internally by welded semi-circular tubes 21 (see also Fig. 2, not shown). The spaces surrounded by the tubes 21 are evacuated by a pump (not shown) via a stationary control head 25 and flange 26 to suck the web 29 and surrounding belt tightly against the surface of the cylinder. Steam under pressure (e.g. 3 atmospheres) is fed to the inside of the pressure vessel formed by the casing 20 and end walls 22, 23 via rotary inlet 24 and heats the surface of the cylinder to the required temperature. The stationary control head 25 is pressed firmly against the side of the cylinder by springs 30 and is designed so that only those rows of perforations 28 in contact with the web 29 are subjected to reduced pressure.
