1371487 Dislay devices CONRAC CORP 11 May 1973 [15 May 1972] 22643/73 Heading G5C In a split-flap display apparatus selectively operable to show a chosen symbol divided between upper and lower flaps 40a, 40b, the resiliently flexible flaps 40 are pivotally mounted on a carrier 30 which is rotatable on shaft 32 by means of motor 50 and gearing 54, 56 in response to signals from control device 60 which senses binary coding notches 48 in the outer edge of each flap, carrier 30 being rotated until the sensed code corresponds to that of the selected flap, when the motor is stopped. The sensors of device 60 comprise a linear array of spring-finger switches 80, carrier 30 rotating until all the fingers at pre-selected positions have been tripped, the pre-selection being provided by pre-punched cards in a code generator device.
