Abstract

1371392 Conveyers for particulate material C VAN DER LELY NV 28 Feb 1972 [3 March 1971] 9136/72 Heading B8A [Also in Division F4] In Figs. 1 and 3, successive loads of crop are delivered by a wagon through doors 7 on to an endless conveyer 17 moving over a perforated floor 12 to convey the crop to a tined endless conveyer 26 which picks up the crop in batches and discharges it to fall on to a transverse endless conveyer 27 which feeds the crop into a duct 33 supplied with hot air (40-100‹ C.) which conveys the crop upwards and forwards to a bifurcated outlet 39 in the top of the drying chamber 1, the hot air passing downwards through the crop in the chamber 1 and exiting through the perforated floor 12. The outlet 39 is provided with a flap 43 pivotable to close the front outlet port 41 when the doors 7 are open for the introduction of crop and to close the rear outlet port 40 when doors 7 are closed. When the crop is dry, the air heater 45 is switched off and a flap 47 is moved within the air duct 33 to open a branch 46 leading to a store (not shown) to which the fan 44 blows the crop. An extension 48 may be utilized to increase the capacity of the device. Endless conveyer 17 comprises sprockets 14 and a pair of chains 15 connected by transverse U-section members 16, the upper run moving over the perforated wooden floor 12, and the lower run moving over a wooden plate 6 and discharging dust at the front of the chamber. Conveyer 17 is driven by an electric motor. Endless conveyer 26 comprises laterallyextending rows of hooked tines 25 carried by one or more belts 24 trained around rollers 23, 26A, 27A, and is driven by the same motor. Endless conveyer 27 comprises chains 29 interconnected by spaced members 28 and engaging sprockets 30. The conveyer 27 extends at one end into the duct 33, a pivoted flap resting on the conveyer 27 to reduce air leakage from the duct 33. In Fig. 7, the conveyer 26 is replaced by three rotary members 49 each comprising a transversely extending support carrying tines 57 which are caused to project through slots in the grating 53 according to the angular position of the member 49 by means of a rod-and-spring overcentre arrangement. In another embodiment. Fig. 13, the floor 12 is inclined upwardly and rearwardly, and the plate 6 is omitted. The conveyer 27 is sealed to the chamber 1 by resilient flaps. The conveyer 26 is replaced by a transverse member 99 carried by arms on a shaft 100 and carrying tines 102 and pins 101B. The air stream from the duct 33 passes through a single outlet into the chamber 1 but is deflectable by a flap in the chamber to permit loading. In a modification, the conveyer 26 is replaced by a rotatable tined member comprising two aligned arms at opposite ends of the rotary shaft and screen plates lagging behind the member to form two troughs.
