Abstract
1371377 Borophosphate glass IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 26 Sept 1972 [15 Oct 1971] 48105/71 Heading C1M Inorganic oxide glass comprises, in mole per cent: the above oxides totalling at least 99 mole per cent of the total composition, excluding water, and the molar ratio P2O5 : B2O3 being 6-15 : 1. Li2O, Na2O, K2O, BaO, CaO, MgO and/or ZnO may be included in the glass, which is resistant to water attack and preferably has a transformation temperature below 200‹ C. The glass may be formed by fusing the oxides or their precursors at below 800‹ C. The glass may be used in forming composite articles as described in Specification 1,356,919 and co-pending Application 48103/71.
