1371314 Towel dispensers NEUCO APPARATEBAU A G 24 Jan 1973 [28 Jan 1972 and 19 June 1972] 3620/73 Heading A4G A dispenser for a web of hand towelling comprises a housing receiving a supply 4, 4 'or 4'of towelling, a dispensing roller, 3, 3'or 3" over which towelling can be withdrawn from the supply, a wind-up roller 15, 15' or 15" for drawing in and winding up used towelling, a timing mechanism including a timing stop member 8, 8'or 8", a suction cup 9, 9', 9"carried on said member, said stop member being movable from a rest position shown dotted, against a bias into an operative position by the withdrawal of towelling, in which latter position, the suction cup adheres for a pre-set time against a counter element 10, 10' or 10", a limiting device arranged for being held in an effective position by said stop member when in its operative position, said limiting device in its effective position blocking said dispensing roller against rotation for said pre-set time after a predetermined length of towelling has been dispensed, an electric motor 17, 17'or 17" for driving said wind-up roller, and a switch S2 for switching the motor into operation by movement of the stop member back into its rest position. In Fig.1, an abutment 8b on member 8 engages a cog 12 on a toothed wheel 11 so as to block roller 3, wheel 11 being coupled to roller 3 via a one-way clutch, a toothed sprocket 13 and a toothed wheel 14. The motor 17 drives the wind-up roller 15 through a worm 18, pinion 19, and toothed wheels 21, 20. Wheel 21 only engages pinion 19 when stop member 8 is in its rest position. In the operative position, the windup roller can rotate in the unwind direction. This rotation is limited by a restricting roller 25 which has unlimited rotation in the wind-up direction, but limited rotation in the unwind direction. This limitation can be achieved by e.g. a groove of spiral or screw form and a counter element which can leave the groove at one end only (see Figs. 2 and 3, not shown). Alternative limitation arrangements are disclosed (see Figs. 4-6 and Fig.9 not shown). Further switches S1 and S3 in the motor circuit are opened by the tension in the towelling after dispensing and by the passage of the end of the towelling. When the roll 16 of used towelling reaches a predetermined size, a lever 26 carrying roller 25 can close a switch S to operate a signal. Then a presser roller 6 mounted on stop member 8 and over which the towelling passes can be held in the upper position and a switch (S4), Fig.7 (not shown), can be closed to operate the motor to wind up the remaining towelling. In Fig.8, wind-up roller 15' has limited rotation in the un-wind direction and wind-up roller 15' and toothed wheel 21' are coupled to the dispensing roller 3', via toothed wheels 51, 53, 14' and a chain 52, in the operative position of stop member 8'and to motor 17' in the rest position. In Fig.10, the coupling between the wind-up roller 15" and the dispensing roller 3" includes a shifting clutch 86, 87, 93 operated by the stop member 8". (For Figures see next page)
