Abstract
1371308 Packaging apparatus QUEPOR SA 22 June 1973 [10 July 1972] 29765/73 Heading B8C In a device for folding and fastening four ears 69 of prismatic containers 68, formed by subdividing a liquid-filled tube with transverse seals 70, a container is moved on to stationary table 4 where ears 69 are gripped between jaws 31 and tongues 9 of brackets 8 mounted on a plate 5 reciprocable by gear sector 15 engaging rack 16. The container moves to position 68a where cylinders 29 open jaws 31, and plate 5 returns to engage the next container. A plate 11 bearing pawls 23 is mounted on plate 5 which bears pawls 20, the pawls engaging seals 70 on the forward strokes to advance the containers. At position 68b, heat or an adhesive is applied by heads 36 to the open ears 69, whereafter, at position 68c, swinging plates 40 of units 35 fold down and press the ears on to the container. Plates 32 and then 33 hold the ears down as the containers proceed to a pivoting discharge table 41, which tilts when feeler 71 is actuated to deposit a group of containers on to a tray 73 or another conveyer.
