Abstract

1371130 Anchors BRUNSWICK CORP 7 Sept 1972 [7 Sept 1971] 41585/72 Heading B7S The shank 30 of a twin fluke anchor carries stops 36 which engage the edges of crown side walls 26 and 34 to limit angular movement of the shank relative to the flukes. Thus compression forces rather than shearing forces are generated in the crown side walls so that it is possible to use lightweight materials in the anchor construction. The anchor may have various forms in which flat stop surfaces engage flat side wall edges; however, the stops may be of cylindrical form, Fig. 6 (not shown), in which case they engage correspondingly curved regions of the crown side walls.
