Abstract

1370623 Testing flash-light apparatus KODAK Ltd 30 Sept 1971 [5 Oct 1970] 47160/70 Heading G2A In the testing of the actuating mechanism of a flash-light device 2 adapted to use percussion ignitable flash-lamp units, which mechanism responds to operation of the shutter release mechanism of a camera 1 assoclated with the device, a predetermined load is applied to a striker releasing member 5 of the mechanism during operation thereof to simulate the resistance of the striker and the movement of the striker releasing member 5 through a predetermined distance while subject to this loading is checked. Testing apparatus 10 is positioned on the camera with a spindle end 12 engaging in the actuating mechanism to set the camera for flash operation and to raise the member 5 into contact with a spring end 21. Actuation of the camera shutter release raises the member 5 and hence the end 21 is raised above a retaining wall 23. The end 21 is thus able to move sideways and operate a micro-switch (26) Fig. 3 (not shown) there being means associated with the apparatus 10 for determining the time between shutter release and micro-switch closure. The micro-switch may be replaced by a light-beam operated photocell. Resetting of the spring end 21 can be effected by a plunger, lever or cam.
