Abstract

1369860 Aircraft ejection seats DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 6 Dec 1972 [7 Dec 1971] 56694/71 Heading B7G In order to protect an occupant of an aircraft ejection seat during ejection in high speed fl ght the seat headrest 2 carries a substantially semicircular frame 1 of U-cross-section in which is stored an inflatable face blind 8. The blind comprises inner and outer panels 9, 10 of rubberized cotton subdivided by apertured panels 12 and connected by conduit 16 to an air bottle 17 from which air is released during an ejection sequence to inflate and extend the blind from the frame 1 to the condition shown in the Figure. It may be inflated by an explosive cartridge.
